The whole point about siding with Ukraine is that if we leave them to do it alone, it would quickly become our problem if Russia overruns the country. Ditto the effect on trade following what the Swiss have done.

I’m not sure that’s a justification for what the Swiss have done. It the same thing Trump is saying to Ukraine - “give Putin what he wants, then we can all go back to sleep”. History tells us that pandering to those greedy psychopaths never ends well.

I guess it’s not uncommon for people who have such potentially life-threatening medical episodes to become, for the first time, truly aware of their mortality. If they can’t process it psychologically, everything then becomes a threat to their existence and they kind of ‘shut down’.
