In places where they've been introduced, redear sunfish have been shown to reduce numbers of native pumpkinseeds. The reason? The redear’s strong jaws allow them to crack snail shells more easily than pumpkinseeds can and as a result, redears are able to outeat them #25DaysofFishmas

Redear sunfish look similar to a couple of familiar sunfish: the bluegill + pumpkinseed.
