she was married for 60 years to a dude who weathered the tough times with her, raised 4 kids, was a devoted grandmother, was a nurse for 50 years, and one of the most amazing people I’ve ever got to spend time with. She had a great life.

I say this bc my grandma was bipolar, faced stigma from her family, was treated with talk therapy in the 50s and 60s. But got the right meds eventually, life wasn’t always perfect, but

I also want to say to anyone who is struggling with it - the right meds are great! It’s just brain chemistry shenanigans. If you need help getting the correct chemistry, store bought is fine!

It’s not a coincidence that the great men doing the first anthro research, were rich, white men using science to reinforce the social hierarchy through biology. Did they think of it like this? No! They took this worldview for granted bc it was part of their culture. But culture changes.

As an anthropologist, the foundations of my field are in scientific racism. We were the first skull measurers, trying to show how white people’s brains were bigger and therefore more intelligent.
