Dunno what the consensus was but it is, if you consider the metroidvania formula, Spyro for example is a 3D platformer from that same time period that isn't a metroidvania

Personally I think it's mostly because everything is so sanitized and so work-focused that it feels artificial and boring, like, why would I want to work in VR if it's not fun, intuitive or comfortable? Aside from a few exceptions, VR headsets are heavy af, passthrough isn't the best yet and...
