But admittedly playing online is a much different table dynamic then in person so I completely understand people not wanting to go that route.

You discovered the reason 90% of people become Game Masters to run their own game😅
Your local game stores are the best alternative, but you'd have to wade through weird people. You could try looking on r/LFG but that's spotty for in-person.
A lot more options if open for online games.
