For whatever other failings of Era, Dubs having no consequences for abusing a staff member and fellow forum member like he did will always be a stain on the forum. I'm not convinced it wouldn't have been an insta-perm for anybody not on staff. Would have been a month time-out at least.

Man, I have so many posts sitting in draft that I've wanted to post in the Community Quarantine thread over the years around the ways I'm seeing the forum falling, but my fetish for screaming into the void pointlessly is burning less and less bright with every passing day.

It's truly just the capstone for every other argument of why Windows should be ditched. I'm just waiting for the day I can run Linux on my main PC without many hiccoughs. It's getting there and I have no doubt it will get there, and that day can't come soon enough.

That only rings truer every time something like this happens. Particularly considering some of the actions around how Palestine and the conversations around it were handled which pleased nobody and lead to yet another exodus of minorities and genuinely insightful posters from the forum.

Once upon a time when the constructive thread was new and there was a sense that things may get better, I said that if he had come to hate the users of Era so much that he can't walk away from conversations without going on the offensive, he should step down for his own health.

Entirely unsurprising. If we tally up every forum blowup of the past 3 or so years, Dubs would be at the centre in some negative way of more than he isn't. He's gotten way too aggressive/heavyhanded over the past few years and has been actively poisoning the well between staff and users since then.

God forbid someone wanting to see a place that they get joy/use from improve and do better in the future.
