no harm in at least trying. if the smell still stays, you can try spraying it with hydrogen peroxide, fairly low concentration (like 3% most people say to use), but test it on some scrap of the same yarn first to make sure it doesn't affect the color

depends on the kind of yarn you're using, if it's acrylic, there's usually no shrinkage, if it's cotton or wool, it can if you dry it with heat. if you're able to salvage it, i would suggest trying to rinse and ring it out with as little agitation as possible and then let it air dry lying flat

also yeah personally i would have just washed that shit out as much as possible to make it at least bearable to work on until it was finished because yarn can get expensive lmfao

yeah my cat does it because of us not being able to get her fixed because of covid LMAO, she just barely became old enough to be fixed when lockdowns happened and we had to put it off until like the end of the year. so now she just views it as her personal potty spot

haven't had my one problem cat pee on any of my yarn work stuff (yet) but she pees on the couch a lot and i've had to put so much stuff on it to try and stop her, like waterproof couch covers and blankets, so i feel your pain

i've never had much of a following for my art anywhere, but rebuilding from the ground up still sucks, but at least this place is more artist-friendly than twitter has been in a long-ass time
