It still requires massive budgets at country level to introduce this revolutionary drug at large scale to really turn the tide of HIV transmission. Amid funding cuts by the US and other countries, would the implementation of this HIV prevention drug become a reality? bsky.app/profile/avac...

« The executive summary says that many nongovernmental groups that receive funding approved by Congress, especially for technical assistance and program management, “have perverse incentives to self-perpetuate rather than work towards turning functions over to local governments.” »

I wish people in the US demand for this drug to be available in pens at the same price as vials as it is possible. Mode of delivery of a drug cant make it few times more expensive. Its just ridiculous.

US funding cuts impact: Mpox has revealed that the scale of HIV in the country may be far higher than national data suggests. Meanwhile, Trump’s aid cuts left the country scrambling to plug gaps in programmes that has likely hampered the speed of its response, activists have told The Independent.

Why are we so plagued by low self-esteem? “So inexplicable is its grip, so binding its influence, it can feel almost mythic,” Vivian Gornick writes.

The force of low self-esteem can feel so enormous, so unexplainable, it seems almost mythic.

The suspension of USAID funding has led to the closure of at least 37 health and nutrition sites in both rural and urban areas around Baidoa, Somalia. Consequently, patient numbers at remaining facilities like Bay Regional hospital have surged, overwhelming an already fragile healthcare system.

“In May, the United Nations Population Fund in North Kivu, which helped sexual violence survivors with support from USAID, only had 2,500 emergency kits for the entire province, while thousands of women are attacked every month,” says Gbagbo.

An order of 100,000 post-rape kits – which include medication for preventing infection from HIV and other STDs – that were set to be distributed to multiple organisations treating sexual violence victims and survivors in eastern DRC was cancelled this year, with catastrophic consequences.
