The White House got a complete redo with Truman, far more than just a bowling alley, but it still preserved the exterior and gave us wonderful photos like this.
The interior of the White House during Truman's second term (Work started in 1948). Vehicles and construction equipment are present inside the empty shell of the exterior, which is being supported by scaffolding and bracing. The interior walls show their age of more than a century.
