I agree that it's way easier now, but I definitely think the other AI stuff we have been concerned about doesn't really change in this case. If someone left over that, it's their prerogative and I respect it.

As an aside, the transference of audience is effective on a per-artist basis. It's gotten better over time and some people definitely get their core audience back or get a second wind. It's good for them. Some people don't.

Pinning internet-whole issues on twt is the problem. Like I said, people could've been doing the .gif thing way earlier so that people wouldn't be able to right click and save posts. There is an element of dumb internet drama and people misleading others that bothers me about the whole thing.

If you are concerned about being deboosted from Twitter, you are not inherently safe on bsky. If you are concerned about safety of NSFW posting, bsky applied the same very dubious rules about non/dubcon the past couple of months. If you are concerned about it, it's probably an internet-whole issue.

Because the criticisms I'm making of bsky aren't the main point, my main point is the people who are upselling bsky off of every Twitter drama. If you are concerned about AI you aren't magically safe from being on bsky (not its fault), and you can take hits from it (not its fault).

I see a tragic amount of artists that *try* to be more active and build their accounts on bsky constantly have to ask for someone to commission them or dono or buy commissions in advance to make it week-to-week, some of them having quit twt. If they stayed, I probably wouldn't have called it cope.
December 27, 2025 at 4:39 PM
I put in the same effort for the three or so sites I use. I post and I leave because that's how I am, and I also don't have time for much else. If I *were* dependent on commissions for money there would be no way I could leave Twitter, it's where most of mine are.

Anyone who doesn't want to use Twitter because of its clear political stances, practices, so on is fine. Those are all valid reasons. But too many people pretend Bsky is a solution that will solve issues for people after some "audience-building" for a few months.

Bsky literally has a pseudo-blacklist by auto-hiding "Rude" accounts and leaving the definition of "Rude" up to the moderators at a given time. You can lose social credit and be de-listed unless you search for a thoughtfully hidden toggle. The issues are bigger than nothing.

Most of my Twt followers who also have Bsky accounts already follow me on here. It's smaller, that's okay. But I also do not have time or to socialize/advertise/monetize my account(s), I draw. I am not a firm. I post my art, and if people commission me, that's cool too. It's not my priority.

Bsky's For You is alright, but it's very insular. People switching over purely relating to NSFW are probably fine with it.

I also don't agree with calling artists lazy. Too many people do this and it's very disrespectful and dismissive of someone's situation.
December 27, 2025 at 4:10 PM
Yes, Twitter discovery is bad. But Bsky's is also not better, and many other functionalities are either behind or still not-yet-added. My point being it's something the site suffers from when trying to talk about why artists need to switch to it. Bsky also has censorship issues like Elon.
December 27, 2025 at 4:10 PM
I did not talk about Bsky (the owners of the site) being responsible for using your content for AI. I said scrapers and individual generators won't be stopped just because you switched sites. I also said Bsky is still full of AI gen, which it is.
December 27, 2025 at 4:10 PM
It's late and I don't usually run my mouth about this stuff, but the moral grandstanding around using *bsky* because it's sheltered from political issues or AI is just a bit off the mark. I had to take some people off my feed because at some point it became about smugness and not artist rights.
December 27, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Politics aren't perfect here either, but I'll at least say that it clears the lowest possible bar (elon), so there's that.

To be clear, I'm not saying "don't use Bsky" if you don't want to. I don't care. The edit image update is getting overblown to get people on a different boat full of holes.

Censorship and bad moderating aren't hard to find on here. Function has never been a strong point here either.

Bunlith is probably the biggest "queer furry" account off the top of my head at nearly 95k followers, and she recommends you don't use like 1/3 of the site. Great sell.
December 27, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Bsky is not safe from scraping, or individual AI thieves. Half my feed is AI generated memes ("at least" they're woke!) and AI-gen "art" isn't hard to find.

Pixiv, dA, boorus, the *online* isn't really foolproof because your art existing creates a liability. Some other sites at least *try* though.
