We’ve done a helluva job convincing people they have no power to change what’s broken bc we’ve not held those with power accountable for breaking it.

I’ve been on all sides of sports - on good teams & bad teams. I’ve coached both. I’ve cheered for both. It is absolutely possible to teach kids how to be passionate AND humble. Competitive AND hungry. How to win AND how to lose. The best athletes figure out the AND. The best coaches teach the AND.

I defended my dissertation on Oct. 1. I have read 7 novels since then. I haven’t touched non-fiction anything since then. I’m not mad about it.

Spent hours upon hours at the library during my Ph.D. Wrote my entire dissertation there. It is always packed when I go. People using computers, maker spaces, studying, reading & attending classes for a variety of topics. Public libraries are life-savers & safe havens for many.

NCLB created a suburb boom. Gentrification and school choice created pockets of trauma and poverty in schools. We can separate ourselves from the experiences of others so easily. Surely this is how we got here, no?

90% of America’s children attend public school. I just don’t think we are fully grasping how bad this could get…I mean those of us who paid attention do, but 😳😳😳
