Don't give it oxygen. It feels good to call out but all you're doing is making it worse. I'm an absolute nobody and I've gotten death threats, my friend working in local media has gotten death threats. It's the reality of being public in literally any industry and talking about it makes it worse.

A side-effect of getting into Japanese music this year (I blame you) is it feels like I already celebrated New Year this morning and now it's 2026 even though I have some parties to go to later tonight :(

I think we're all just tired of the opposite extreme. People realized the problem with crunch and wanted devs to take their time but then all of a sudden games took 20 years to produce. There needs to be a middle ground and overtime is part of that middle ground. Compensation is also part of that.

Everything in moderation, including moderation. Sometimes you gotta burn the candle at both ends either to get ahead to to get back on your feet. Rest and balance are important but so is knowing when to lock in for a little while.

Once Apple did it it was free game for everyone.

Why am I getting Super Hot vibes?

I figured they'd be fighting over like Lobster or Poppins or one of those trendy millennial fonts but it's goddamn Calibri. Microsoft's corporate mandated font for nearly 20 years. How is that woke?

Honestly I agree. Outside of data entry/spreadsheets/maths it should be written.

This (and Fahrenheit/statute measurements) is the hill I'll die on. It makes sense. It's how you speak and cuts out unnecessary articles. December 10th rolls off the tongue way better than 10th Õf̂ December. written text should follow the spoken form, the world needs to catch up.

They've been taking Chinese money with no qualms so what makes you think they'll turn down the Saudis?

Worked for our cat! She also had a thing for my fake IKEA plant too so maybe she's just weird.

Isn't that mostly how blue checkmarks work? Instagram and Threads sell checkmarks too.
December 6, 2025 at 8:38 PM
...they're not selling lol

As a taller guy (I'm average by NBA standards goddammit >:( shouldn't be that hard) I feel this to my bones. Literally. So much of the big and tall options hyperfocus on big with not much to offer for the slimmer talls so everything drapes on my frame or I get cold ankles/wrists when cold hits.

You'll still end up causing a real-world shitstorm. Sides will be taken. threats will be made. Bridges will be burned.
December 5, 2025 at 5:28 AM
But it did. This game would have opened Steam up to a world of legal pain and could set dangerous precedent for regulation going forward. Once a censorious group/politician picks up the children angle it will be all over the news. You're asking Valve to risk financial ruin over a fringe game.
December 5, 2025 at 3:03 AM
Just to be clear I also think it should exist and be available for adults to purchase. I just don't understand why so much blame is being put on Valve for bog standard and legally mandated regulation. No lawyer is letting you sell a game that had that content at any point. They'd be sued to oblivion
December 5, 2025 at 2:59 AM
Not trying to move goalposts, I can only speak informedly on US norms/regulations. From a US perspective (Valve is here) this wouldn't fly in any mainstream retailer so Valve's choice makes sense. Crossing the radioactive 3rd rail (children) made it indefensible forever. It can exist, not on Steam.
December 5, 2025 at 2:51 AM
Martyrs didn't get theatrical in US. My point about titillation was that you stressed repeatedly it was crossing lines for art, not smut so I was pointing out that it doesn't matter from a moderation perspective. It should be for sale but not on Steam. An adult game store makes more sense.
December 5, 2025 at 2:30 AM
They're missing the big part: good prices. At least in the US even VW's EVs are outrageously priced.
December 5, 2025 at 2:15 AM
Even if its taken out that content is too radioactive for steam. If any production stills get out Valve is facing huge legal and regulatory danger. In any other medium you'd be expected to sell this kind of intentionally boundary pushing art in specialty stores/theaters, not the big mainstream ones.
December 5, 2025 at 2:10 AM
This is where I'm landing. I understand there is a place for this kind of content but it's not steam. It's like asking AMC Theaters to screen x-rated art-house movies. They're not the venue for that. We have smaller adult stores for this boundary pushing comics, books, movies, and games too.
December 5, 2025 at 2:04 AM
The offending material involved a child with riding a naked adult. That content wouldn't fly in any commercial mainstream medium. Even if they removed it Steam is still taking a massive reputational/financial risk when those images get out for the sake of appeasing intentional line crossers.
December 5, 2025 at 1:54 AM
I watched it all but still felt like the answer was you believed it was good faith art not trying to titillate which isn't reasonable policy. Intent is irrelevant for moderation. A movie with this content wouldn't be cleared for theatrical release either. This belongs on small stores, not Steam.
