Bought this wine thing in Tokyo today. Redundant as it turned out because i finished the (half) bottle (important clarification). But check the tagline. I’ve been making wine vacuous since last century.

Last night i went to the kabuki in Ginza. 1st time & it was fab. Colour, laughter, total spectacle. I dropped my phone & didn’t notice the magnetic holder fell off the back. Anyway, i’ve just been to the theatre & retrieved it. Because Japan. Here’s a pic of Kabukiza Theatre.
The ornately decorated Kabukiza Theatre in Ginza Tokyo. 3 stories high with symmetrical gables on either side of the entrsnce. The roof is tiled & has the typical upturned corners of Japanese buildings. The entrance is decorated with an arched roof with coloured lanterns and a noren (curtain). To the side of the entrance is a stand of sake barrels.

Also…went out. Music festival and incredible art mall across the road. Glad i did. Still relaxed but feeling like i am doing something. New appreciation for k-pop. The art here is beyond. Billionaire Korean collectors opened this place to share art, especially Korean art. Endorse.

A man walks past the opening of a monumental building. It looks as if someone has pulled the drape of a tablecloth from the floor. Designed by MVDRV, Amsterdam. A Korean k-pop band, NOWZ, on the giant screen at an outdoor music festival in Incheon, Korea. 5 of them dressed all in white throw coordinated shapes.

Eating at bills & skiving off uni, so needs must.
A glass of tomato juice and booze decirated with a cucumber & a celery slice. A plate with a large piece of sourdough toast, upon which sits avocado dressed with coriander. A perfectly poached egg and a wedge of lime sit alongside.

I almost regret the delicious tiramisu i had at 5pm today with a mocha. Almost. Sleep will come. At some point.
An Italian tiramisu sits upon a plate next to a mocha coffee. You can see the delicious swirls of cream on top that are covered with cocoa powder. The coffee has a leaf type design on the crema.

Simple snack. Paying homage to Hachiko today.
A glass filled with a cafe mocha. Chocolate dribbles down the side and a straw peeks out. 2 flaky pastries sit upon a tray. They have tomato, cheese, and a basil leaf on top. There is a space in front where a 3rd pastry sat. That’s the one i ate. The famous Akita dog Hachiko bronze statue in Shibuya Japan.

Kanazawa was so beautiful. A few snippets of today.

A peaceful moment in Kanazawa to start the day. The climb to the Hosenji temple in Higashiyama was the commencement of 16.2 km’s of walking.

1st 2 weeks in Japan. A little photo wrap.
Japanese men carry a portable shrine called a mikoshi at the Akasaka Hikawa festival. The mikoshi is highly decorated and a golden bird with wings unfolded sits atop. Wakamatoharu is a high ranking sumo. He stands close-by posing for the camera. He wears a cotton yukata robe. He is large & unsmiling, but was generous in his time spent greeting the many waiting fans & signing autographs & taking selfies. Location; Ryokogu Kokugikan. “You Are Not Alone 2018” by artist Jibin Im. Image shows very large embracing inflatable bears. They are half black, half white, and the reverse of each other. They are illuminated from within. Located at Tokyo Midtown Plaza, Rippongi. A Shimpaku bonsai, aka Japanese Juniper, sits on a table in the foyer of The Ritz in Roppongi. The trunk is wide and gnarled and the bright green branches are perfectly balanced. It’s the absolute replica of an enormous tree, miniaturised. It is estimated to be over 300 years old.
