Despite my busy lifestyle, what with work and the fitness regime that helps me maintain my spectacular physique, I’m oddly eager to assume the domestic management of your home. We only met yesterday at work, but I seduced you last night and insisted on making you breakfast in the morning

I have a job position that codes as smart, tough, and ambitious, but actually the thing I want most is for you, the hero of the novel, to reassure me and tell me what to do. Competent women like me just love that shit

Stelter’s book, despite being panned by Wolff, is far more journalistic and gives the subject matter the serious treatment it deserves. Wolff’s book reads like a second-rate tabloid piece

But that is far from his only crime. The entire book is frivolous and gossipy. He refuses to engage with the idea that Fox News is a pernicious lie machine and treats those who do (like Stelter) as earnest scolds

(Also, the Brian Stelter book is Hoax, not After the Fall)

Firstly, Wolff’s prose is pretentious and impenetrable. He had sentences that spanned the length of half a page. By the time I got to the end, I’d forgotten the beginning
