I agree entirely, but it seems a nigh impossible task to get the companies to do something with no financial incentive. I don't like that part of gaming at all.

But in a world where that is commonplace, I think remakes hold a certain value still. It incentivizes older games being more accessible

I agree with that, but due to the nature of video game consoles, original versions of games generally are going to become more expensive and less accessible with time

Consumers would get confused by multiple versions on the same console, less money for company, so they just make remakes instead

I never meant to imply they're preservation, just meant to say that they make the experience more accessible to more people.

If you don't own a gamecube or TTYD it's going to be cheaper now to buy it on Switch, a console vastly more people own, for an experience most agree is better than the og

But most of the time I like those softened edges. Most remakes I play give bug fixes, qol features, and graphical enhancements that only add to my experience

Don't get me wrong, I fw old games, but the versions with more content and less jank tend to be more fun for me personally ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My hot take is that I like remake/rerelease culture. Making games available on modern platforms and therefore accessible to new people is almost always good for the artform

I know the argument of "just emulate 4head" but most people aren't going to, and it isn't always an authentic experience

That's what I've been like the last while, constantly having to remind myself to eat and rarely finding anything I even want to. Some combination of stress, depression, and maybe a few other factors

Hyrule Warriors is a franchise I love that gets way too little love for simply being a musou game. AoI is a fantastic addition to it! With what I honestly consider to be a better story than TotK, it was a pleasure to 100% it until the updates
