I hope to connect with colleagues both old and new to understand if and how early language contributes to socio-emotional mental health https://dr.ntu.edu.sg/entities/person/Goh-Kok-Yew-Shaun

We find:
-International studies indicate DLD to be at risk of lower academic and socio-emotional outcomes

-Local information on where support for DLD can be found in preschool and primary school ages

-Many helping hands are needed for a brighter future for DLD

The term DLD can be found in local and international diagnostic guidelines. In brief, DLD is a disorder characterised by a persistent difficulty in the use of oral language, that are not explained by other biomedical conditions, and are significant enough to pose challenges.

Similar to global trends, DLD attracts relatively little public attention in Singapore (i.e. 'hidden'), with far fewer hits in a database of local newspaper articles then other NDDs.
To address this info gap, we share what we know about DLD in SG here: das.org.sg/wp-content/u...
