Shawn Carpenter: Author and Unreliable Narrator
@shawn-the-gdb.bsky.social
Author of THE PRICE OF REDEMPTION & Tides of Magic Series; Ambush Alley Games co-conspirator; Based on a True Story
Sorry I haven't been active much lately. A new job and the final touches on my 2nd book in the Tides of Magic Saga reduced me to a hermit!😒

I'm back, though, and with the cover to THE SILVER HAND (that 2nd book mentioned above) to show off!

My dear wife gave me an amazing gift this Christmas, and I'm just getting around to bragging about it online! He expanded my library with 9 volumes of fascinating facts, history, and lore from the Naval Records Society! Learn more at my author's website: www.theshawncarpenter.com/blog-1

I've been away from the social media scene for a while, which is never a good thing for an author with a new novel on the shelves to do. I'm back, though, and I'd like to remind you of my nautical fantasy novel, THE PRICE OF REDEMPTION.

This probably isn't the response you're looking for. I wear pretty normal stuff when I post. You know, something comfortable and loose that says, "I'm a fun guy, but I have serious side."

Some words of wisdom from a fellow Okie. Though they were uttered 91 years ago, they're just as valid today.

A fun little pic I did last night for cyberpunk/scifi project. I should probably re-do it to show the glow of the datapad, but I'm too lazy at the moment. ;)

A fun little mood picture I put together for my weekly London:1888 Night's Black Agents game. I had fun with it. I hope you like it!

@acoupleofdrakes.bsky.social wonderful Dead Belt solo RPG just arrived in my mailbox. The game is tense and evocative and the books and playing aids demonstrate the heights a talented and motivated indie producer can attain. What's not to love?

And if you love narrative games, you should certainly check Schema out. It's a wonderful game engine that has me stewing over which of my 100 some odd setting ideas to use it for!

Maybe '60s horror . . .

I picked up my pencil (it's digital now) and resumed drawing a few years ago after 40. I'm definitely not commercial quality, but I enjoy the process. Here's something I did recently. It's inspired by an 1880s vampire game I'm running. The background is shamelessly lifted from Bela Lugosi's Dracula.

I want to run a cool thing in which the player characters are the original vampire hunters from Stoker's Dracula (Jonathan, Mina, Quincey, Van Helsing, and a couple of wild-cards), but I just can't drum up the interest. Doesn't anybody want to step into a Hammer film with me? :D

Playing around with some art for a backburner post-apocalyptic TTRPG. Trying to go for kind of a "historical art" look like you might see in an Osprey book. It's still evading me, but I do think this one turned out pretty good.

Book II of the Jaldonkillers Saga is in final edits. We hope to have it out under our Troupe Games logo soon!

While Valley of Plenty focused on your maturation into young adults, this book spotlights your deeds as a new adult and establishes you as a young hero of your tribe!
