Oh wow, that's wild! We do fucking love corn in the US. There's a guy a few hours from me in Indiana who raises Wagyu/Angus cross cows in conjunction with a Japanese sister farm...I wonder what he feeds them other than grass

The friend I met up with thought they were too spicy, but I thought they were perfect spicy. I then had a salad from M&S for dinner and salad dressing here is...thicc.

Today's UK eating adventure was to see what tacos taste like here, because I like seeing what a taco is like in other non-Mexican places. It was good! Genuinely! I tried a place called Wahaca (props, Oaxaca wouldn't have worked here) and they were quality fancy tacos.

I think the pub I'm staying at is also a chain pub, Fuller's, though not as widespread as Weatherspoons at least. The food is mid, but at least they still make meat pies as needed

I could see that! The trick that helps when I make them at home is smaller pieces of lettuce so it doesn't all slide off. Sometimes I layer the condiments so it helps glue things together. I run into the sliding issue with sandwiches a lot so I avoid them 😂. Also lunch meat is too processed anyway

I mean, you can pair it with broccoli if you want to maximize the vitamin C+iron pairing for absorption, but beef is generally very good for absorbable iron on its own. Idk, I'm a healthy weight and mostly muscle, and making food that tastes good helps maintain that 😂

That's interesting! I don't eat burgers too often, maybe once a month, but I never really think about the mess 😂. I just think about the major protein and iron hit that I'm about to benefit from
shawnlenore.bsky.social
This is true, we're big supporters of the dairy industry here 😂

Idk I just use a meat thermometer to make sure it reaches a safe internal temp. I know US menus have disclaimers that if you order your meat rare, that's on you if something happens, because we do love to legally warn people to stave off potential lawsuits lol

Yeah, I had a steak and ale pie yesterday and I had the same thoughts about it. It looked good! The mashed potatoes were great! But the meat filling flavor was just a bit odd. Needed something, not sure what.

Idk, find me a UK burger that'll ruin my life and I'll eat it for science lol
shawnlenore.bsky.social
That's how I make burgers, so I assume it's pretty universal? But it definitely helps lol
shawnlenore.bsky.social
Just a week! Visiting my old roommate and some other friends and wandering a lot lol

I think the trick is butter. I just assume if I'm making a burger out of anything, I'm cooking that thing in butter. And using a meat thermometer so it's not overdone. I feel like we learn this art through subliminal messaging since birth.

Noooo that's devastating! Why would an Internet cafe even try selling lamb??
shawnlenore.bsky.social
I am all about homemade, or there's a place near me in Indiana that does a grass fed, free range beef patty that's absolutely mind blowing with a nice buttery crust to it. So I'd probably just go there lol
shawnlenore.bsky.social
This burger was definitely fresh but they cooked the hell out of it and I can't pinpoint what seasoning was on it, but I definitely added some salt. The meat is already dead, please don't cook it to death a second time 😭

Okay, having now had a burger in the UK at a very well-rated pub, I fully understand why so many Brits on YouTube act like eating a burger at Culver's is a religious experience. My friends, the US can do better than fast food. The US has burgers that'll ruin your life.

Damn, I'm in the UK right now but I don't have any copies with me 😭. We could've done a shady back alley deal

New page! howtobeawerewolf.com Harvey is doing some emotional wood chopping, as one does

I'm glad you noticed! Yeah, I wanted Harvey to come full circle, where she's still chopping wood for mental health reasons, but she's a lot less hostile about it :)
