That and etymology has explanatory power. It's how historical linguistics works and how we figured proto indo european out. It also correlates with genetics oddly enough so they follow a similar pattern (they aren't the same thing or in relation to each other though).

Ontology is just the study of being (onta/onto = being). It studies particular being like a cat qua humans = pet. But what all beings are reduced into is metaphysics

Metaphysics is just being qua being. It's not ghosts or non physical things. Every worldview interprets what things are fundamentally whether material, ideal etc.

I get a kick that anybody does. There were a few ppl in hs who read plato or aristotle and ayn rand to some degree. I think the internet has done good for that and even the internet discourse.
