Seeker of serious, thoughtful discussion. Ad hominem attacks, willful misrepresentations or other cheap shots generate an instant block, generally without warning.
You seem so resigned to it that you actually want it. I don't think you're evaluating the situation accurately or realistically.

But, yes, we'll see. I, for one, will continue encouraging people to fight, and pointing out the limits on Trump's power.

Have a good day, I'm out.

What should they do?

In the interest of accuracy, "Don't be evil" was not removed from the employee handbook. It's still in there.
February 5, 2025 at 2:15 PM
Take a breath. You're catastrophizing, and your attitude, if widely adopted, would be self-fulfilling. Trump is not a king, there are lots of limits on his power and there is plenty that people can do and are doing to fight back.

He'll probably get to nominate replacements for the older conservatives, but that won't change anything. He could try to pack the court, but that seems unlikely to get through Congress.
February 5, 2025 at 1:47 PM
It's not that bleak. What you say is possible, but Trump has lost 54% of his cases before this SCOTUS, so it could go the other way.

The 14A doesn't require a supermajority. It doesn't specify any requirements, which means it's up to Congress to decide.

And I'm perfectly aware of why Trump's Senate conviction failed... I never said otherwise, only that a majority of Senators voted to convict.

The Constitution is explicitly and intentionally undemocratic. The whole point of having a written Constitution that requires a very large super-majority to modify is to protect against such mistakes by voters. Democracy is good, but there's sense in putting core principles above democracy.

The 14th doesn't require conviction, nor does it require proof "beyond a reasonable doubt". He has already been impeached by the House, and a majority of the Senate voted to convict him, and a state Supreme Court found that he committed insurrection.

I'd have been good with knowing less of him.

Sadly, that belief collapsed in spite of the fact that everyone's boats rose over the last three decades.
January 3, 2025 at 10:45 PM
Rudy has believed dumber things.
January 3, 2025 at 10:35 PM
Or maybe to drag it out until Trump can (somehow) save him? Not that it's at all obvious that Trump could do anything for him, or would bother.

AFAICT, Musk doesn't have any sort of regular income, so I'm curious what numbers were used. 15 minutes to reach $176.1K means an assumed annual income of $6.17B. Where did that number come from?
January 3, 2025 at 9:50 PM
A Twitter feed is not a useful source.

Many accidents which kill people are also likely to cause vehicle fires. This is more true of ICEVs than of BEVs.
January 1, 2025 at 8:31 PM
The 83 fatalities claim is almost certainly false. EVs (including Teslas) are far less likely to catch fire than ICEVs, though it's possible the 232 figure is accurate. Sources would be helpful.
January 1, 2025 at 8:27 PM
Actually, other -- and I think more authoritative -- sources say he did serve in the Army. Sorry for the misinformation.
January 1, 2025 at 8:24 PM
I see, thanks.
January 1, 2025 at 8:24 PM
He didn't serve in the Army, from what I'm reading. He worked for the US Army as a civilian employee. Also, he was born and raised in Texas.
January 1, 2025 at 8:20 PM
Not just a resident, a US citizen born and raised in Texas.

To safely drink wild water you have to get it very close to its source, either spring or snowmelt, and still flowing fast. The whole "raw water" thing is, of course, just nutty.
January 1, 2025 at 8:15 PM
Can you elaborate on how it not passing might clinch it?
January 1, 2025 at 7:58 PM
Yeah, I don't see any way to get 100.

If the hole is at the end with the two guys bailing, they should consider just walking to the other end.
