We need to force offline interactions- it's harder to hate people when they're right in front of you and you see they'renotthat different to you. That's why those who are anti immigrant trend to live in the least diverse areas, the bigotry is abstract.

We become atomiser and hyper-individual. Ironically, we're desperate for connection and a shared understanding, hence online clique and communities of interest. Humans need connection. Online leads to offline connection, so building real community is important. 2/

Daniel Hannan? You mean Dan Hannan? The fan boy? Is saying this? Things are bad #understatement

It's an open goal to say we are going to develop closer bonds with our reliable allies but he manages to miss. Every time. The political courage of a dish rag

Wish I'd been part of the Secret Santa! It's a cut above the socks or wrapped spaghetti or cheese on usual offer!

Whoops! Who's going to tell them? Or don't they care?

Labour has selective hearing on immigration, and they ignore everything else. They will always be out-manoeuvred on the right. They're utterly devoid of nous or strategy. Hopeless

Tamerlane by Justin Marozzi, absolutely fantastic bit of biography and history.

That's amazing and well done!

I'm on board with that. But the change of narrative needs to come from the top. Not just style but also showing delivery, at a more rapid pace.

They do take time to achieve but the narrative of it'll take us 10 years to fix isn't doing them any favours. That just tells me they want a 2nd term. They boxed themselves in with the no tax rises thing. The obvious answer is access to EU market but there again, too scared of Reform
May 2, 2025 at 12:45 PM
Labour has selective hearing: Reform-like on immigration but not on the underlying issue of why they appeal - better public services. The promised Change hasn't arrived. Just timidity
May 2, 2025 at 7:33 AM
Maybe. Last week they showed some grottiness. It's making me want to go there though so it's working!

I was thinking the same. But at the same time it looks incredible

Taking the fight to fly-tippers but not, em, anyone else... he's an enormous disappointment... Management but not leadership
