Bridehead Has Been Closed , but Not Forgotten. For generations, the Bridehead Estate has been a central part of the rhythm of life in the community. A place of picnics, walks, childhood memories, and quiet reflection. Now its much loved amenity grounds has been closed off, ending decades of shared joy and connection.Really, this is just the tip of the iceberg in a story that runs much deeper. But still, we mourn the loss of access to yet another piece of our natural world. This kind of quiet enclosure is happening more and more across the countryside. And unless we act, more cherished places will vanish behind fences. On Saturday 5th July, we’re holding a small, peaceful trespass at Bridehead, inviting all those who share a connection to this land.Whether you’ve lived nearby for years, or visited once and never forgot it,come with us as we let the land know it is not forgotten, and we will not let it disappear from us for good.Swipe through this post for more details on the event including transport options. You can register for free tickets to the event via the link in our bio (this just helps us keep track of numbers) you can also purchase coach tickets with the same link. #Bridehead #microenclosure #righttoroam #dorset #accessforall

Can anyone identify this please? It's growing in my lawn. The tiny cerise flowers are clustered on a ball about the size of a penny which when open reveal white stamens. The plant grows to about a foot. Thanks in advance. #wildflowerhour @wildflowerhour.bsky.social

Off to Keswick, Cumbria this autumn to walk to the summit of Latrigg fell. Join me, a descendant of one of the leaders of the 1887 Trespass, as I tell the story of 2500 people who marched to the top of Latrigg to reclaim the #righttoroam. Court case followed, trespassers won. #cumbria #visitkeswick

Headed down to the beach with @wheelzwheeler.bsky.social midday expecting to see some big waves as #stormDarragh was still blowing. Lots of shells washed up on the shore, & the sea was strangely calm. #southbourne #bournemouth #dorset

Winter edition of the #WainwrightSociety magazine arrived on my doorstep this morning. A big thank you to Nick Burton for writing an article about our Latrigg Fell walk, appearing on page 24. The push for a permanent memorial to the trespass of 1887 continues. #Keswick #Cumbria #HenryIrwinJenkinson
