Stefania Paolini from @durhampsych.bsky.social explains work showing that positive intergroup contact improves social cohesion, but the disproportionate effect of negative contact is larger when people feel able to self-select out of contact situations.

Patrick Kotzur from @durhampsych.bsky.social presents longitudinal data showing intergroup “contact does its magic across the board,” including target outgroups (primary transfer effect), other outgroups (secondary transfer effect), and cognition more broadly (tertiary transfer effect).
