I flew to Rome on NYD using my last 2022 systemwide upgrade. A chilly rain meant a pic of the Spanish Steps devoid of people. I ate a lot of amazing food, practiced Italian, and re-visited my favorite places. Rome will always be one of my favorite destinations.

Athens was full of friendly cats who I wasted no time befriending. The food was amazing and I used points to fly Emirates first class home (5th freedom flight, ATH to EWR). Highly recommend Culinary Backstreets if you like food tours (they were fabulous in Istanbul too).

The second half of my "reverse round trip" to from Venice was my outbound flight to Athens. Fantastic Acropolis views from my balcony at the Grand Hyatt and off-season meant I had the Acropolis to myself for a few moments and Aegina to myself for the whole visit!

Since I haven't posted any of these pics yet, I'll start life here with Venice...Murano was perfect, Burano was a dream, the Film Festival was epic, and the food was exactly as amazing as you'd expect. Awesome use of points and the 1st half of my reverse roundtrip plane ticket!
