Tonight I watched Rio Bravo (1959)- ticked all the boxes and was really enjoyable if not just a little predictable. I've not seen a lot of John Wayne but it seems like John T. Chance is probably every character he plays. And songs! Nice way to start.

I actually do import Archie Comics digests because in this world of cynicism and uncertainty sometimes I really need a pure hit of wholesome. Look, the gang is learning about bears!

You know it’s the first day of school because it’s the first of maybe 3 days a year I put effort into my kid’s packed lunch. Back to tuna salad and a hunk of cheese on monday.

I get giddy when reading a book where you need another book alongside it so you can understand the first book you’re reading. The more supplemental materials a book has, the more postmodern it is and the smarter you can feel. It’s bookception.

Just finished reading Don DeLillo’s “White Noise” and, while I really wanted to love it but didn’t, it did remind me of the fantastic LCD Soundsystem song from the movie adaptation. I’m going to pretend the whole book is people dancing around a grocery store to this banger.

Finished 2nd read of Infinite Jest as well as World of Archie vol. 134. One is a post-postmodern rumination on the dangerous passivity of Entertainment and the other goes for at least 400 pages about tennis or some shit.

Sadly, today we had to say goodbye to Mr. Peanut Butter Jelly Time. We had Peanut since he was 8 weeks old. He came with us from the US to Sweden and put up with the ice, then he came to the UK and put up with the rain. He was the puggiest pug who ever pugged, and we will always love and miss him.
