A very dear friend of mine is in the process of leaving this world right now and I can barely breathe. My grief is overwhelming. She wouldn't want me to feel this way. She's been an incredible teacher and a brave and beautiful leader. She's taught me how to LIVE with my own cancer. 🥹

It's painful and difficult to care for a woman lost in deteriorating health. The woman who birthed me, and raised me up to share my voice no longer registers what's shared between us, day by day. I miss the woman who sat in college writing classes with me. I was 12, too young to go alone. 🥹🥹
