Primarily a knitter, but I dabble in other crafts too.
Pack lace weight if you’re short on space or weight. Takes as long to knit 1000m in lace weight as it does in worsted but it packs soooo much better 😀 it's emergency yarn, right?

Weeeelll, have you discovered online sock knitting competitions? And yes, it is stimming for those who indulge 😀

Been there...persevere!

Thrift shops! Needles, notions, patterns, yarn. Unless you're looking for something very specific or unusual, you'll probably find it in a thrift shop.

I wish...AuDHD means even my obsessive part gets distracted by new patterns/stitches/techniques. Your stockinette knitting is a thing of beauty, and I am in awe.

I'm actually jealous...

Girl, if that is your worst trait, you need to get out more! BTW, I am as likely to use circs as straights, just whatever is closest to hand in the right size. There are no knitting police!

The dishes won't care. Keep going!

You might consider Portuguese style - yarn in front around your neck or through a pin on your shirt for tension, then your left thumb just flicks the yarn for a purl stitch. I knit English, but for long stretches of purl, this is very relaxed.

Sock WIPs don't count. Just as sock yarn doesn't count as stash. It's a rule.

Twisted German is my go-to for socks, remembering it is the gap between stitches that gives the stretch. Don't snug up each stitch against the next!

*hugs* Stay warm and dry, cuddle the pooches and knit on. I'm in Gippsland and we'd really like some of that wet, but it doesn't look as if any will make it down here.

Soooo NOT only you, I promise! 😆

Aaand this is why I prefer TAAT on a long cable 😀🧶

I use an old school CD accordian case for my circs. Shorter DPNs can go in there too.
March 6, 2025 at 9:12 PM
Yep. That's why I pretty much use circular for everything - no weight hanging off the end of straight needles!

Lopi sweaters! I made two back in the day, and I was incredibly happy with them. Big yarn, big needles, yoke down, all in the round, with colourwork. So much fun and one of those easy ones that make you look like a crafting Rockstar.

Do you have second hand shops nearby? An old school soup tureen is your friend here - and it keeps your yarn clean as well. The ladle notch makes it a perfect yarn container. Or for smaller balls, a sugar bowl works, so long as it has that notch in the lid. :)

*cough* mine is nearly twice that...the first 100 or so have stash yarn allocated, then I might have to go shopping 🛍 for 🧶

We've all got one, if we've been crafting for 11 years 😆
February 23, 2025 at 12:28 AM
No longer a beginner I'd say 😀
February 23, 2025 at 12:24 AM
I went looking for the pattern for this...to find I'd already favourited it.😊

It wasn't for me...mine came to just over mid calf (56 sts)

What an interesting idea! Different colours and bead placement for different experiences? How cool!

What is the final plan for the piece, if you don't mind sharing?

Don't burn it! Either keep it as proof you can Do.This.Thing or pass it along. Whatever you think of it, someone out there will love it.
