Nurturing a love of nature and language in little ones with big imaginations.
March 1, 2025 at 8:34 PM
My mission is to nurture a love of nature and language in little ones with big imaginations. That's one way to answer WHY. Another reason is that I can't not make #kidslit. Writing the kinds of books I loved as a child is my way to make sense of, and to do some good in, this crazy world.

Amazing! Thanks so much! Many of my readers are adults who used to have, or still have, speech challenges. Some have developed them in adulthood, e.g. from a stroke. It was healing for me to write and it can be healing to read. I also have FREE companion materials at sherrymcmillan.ca/free-and-fun.

Thanks for this reminder! Ten-years-ago-me would be pretty darn impressed at this years' model. Taking comfort....

I watched the Pattington Bear movie for the same reasons recently - or so I tell myself. 😉

* While I like to think I'm altruistic about my writing, a win like this would sure feel good and would be a huge validation and motivation to keep going. (Being a Finalist is already more than awesome, though!)

* Voting is free. And, if you haven't read the book and would like to do so free of charge, let me know. I have a way that will work in time.

This is Canada's largest Reader's Choice awards!

* Winning books are a 'go-to' purchase for schools and libraries across the nation.
* National exposure is priceless.
* This is the book I wish I'd had as a kid. I'm on a mission!
