Ultimately this is just a quality of life feature for myself (staging branches to be able to review external contributions easier) but as a long time @netlify.com OSS fan I think I'm just going to stop if I can't control the billing side of things for this side project
From the admin page: "Team created on Jul 8, 2018 (7 years ago)." Confirming the GitHub App for Netlify was installed for the project ~6 years ago (Feb 2019)

It seems Netlify upsold me automatically for an OSS side project while I wasn't checking my email over the holidays and are now going to suspend me for not paying for the thing I didn't ask for. Guess that's a thing I need to turn off next month...
December 31 - Automated email indicating Netlify will bill me due to build minute usage "Your build minutes usage on your team (Brendan Forster's team) has reached 50% of the current allowance in your billing cycle from December 8 to January 8. If build minutes usage goes over the allowance before the end of the billing cycle, we’ll add an extra build minutes pack for $7, increasing your allowance by 500 minutes for the current billing cycle. Alternatively, you can increase your build minutes allowance to 25,000 minutes/month by upgrading to Pro, which is free for the first month if it’s your first time on Pro. Visit the pricing page to compare plans. You can check current usage details in the Netlify UI." January 1 - Automated email from Netlify indicating they've billed me "Based on your usage so far this month, we’ve billed you for an additional Build Minutes usage package on account Brendan Forster's team. This means you can now: - Use an additional 500 build minutes in this billing cycle Find out more in your dashboard." January 9 - Automated email from Netlify indicating that they plan to suspend my projects "The billing cycle for your subscriptions has ended. Your sites will be suspended after 28 days. To process your payment and keep your sites up and running, please provide a valid credit card for Brendan Forster's team immediately."
