Ugh so sick and tired of meta! I've mostly been using threads for world events/politics instead of bookish stuff (to keep things a bit separated and make it easier to have bsky be safe when it all gets to be too much for my mental health) But last night I was like, hey, let's post about my newsletter freebie to threads! And apparently threads thought I was soliciting sex with it and banned it??? Tried to appeal but all the options make no sense so 💀 And then when I checked my profile the post DOES still exist? But threads removed 1 slide... The slide that had a horror snippet of the story... And they left the sexual one... Slowburn wholesomeness This book was such a wholesome spooky paranormal romance. It made me so happy to see an MC who would react to a "haunting" like I would 😆 The anxiety and trauma rep was also really well done. A shadow demon to help deal with panic attacks and nightmares? 🙌💜 Absolutely loved the slowburn of this book, as it allowed for the two characters to genuinely bond ♡ it was also just such wholesome fun and the MC truly needed that ♡ When things got tense, I was relieved the story did not go for certain tropes. This also added to the cosy factor. (Slight spoiler: the abusive ex gets what he deserves 😌) And then, when that fire finally got to ignite? It did not disappoint. (Also also: predator/prey games? 🔥🔥) I got this as an ebook on a sale once but I need to get a physical copy now. This story was so good, it deserves a spot on my bookshelf. To her surprise, she saw the lord stepping out of the bath, his back towards her. What the…? Utterly confused, she simply stared at him. What happened? Why— “Wash up and get out; the food’s probably getting cold.” He wrapped a towel around his waist, barely concealing his erection, and walked out of the bathroom. Wide-eyed, Meya watched him leave. Even after the door had closed behind him, she didn’t move. Did that seriously just happen? She stared at the door. When it finally calmed down, they both sighed in relief. “I guess we need to be extra careful in the morning when going out,” Meya said softly. “Actually, it’s probably safer to go back to sleeping in our own room.” Meya pouted. “But I’m used to having you close every night. I can’t just go back to sleeping all alone.” Nina cupped Meya’s cheek. “I don’t like it either, but with the—” Nina fell silent and slowly turned her head towards the door. Meya’s heart constricted in her chest as she followed Nina’s frightened gaze. “…didn’t ask any of the servants to clean it up after your last stay, but as that was only one night, I assume it’s still in good condition. I’ll ensure Kadeem cleans it up in the morning.” “I’m just glad I can sleep in a normal bed.” The sound of keys sent adrenaline coursing through both women. Terrified, they exchanged glances, the both of them thinking the same thing: ‘We forgot about Commander Andreas!’ The door swung open, and Lord Deminas entered. He held up an oil lamp, though the fire in the hearth already illuminated a large part of the room. He raised a brow but didn’t speak as he looked at the women, then at the towel that had been blocking their light from spilling underneath the door, and then back at the women. Meya’s breath hitched. We’re dead. We’re done for.
