Well if you think about it, we’ve seen it before. When the leader becomes a demagogue the people latch onto them specifically, and when they leave, so does the adoration. There’s no heir apparent here because that’s how Trump wants it.

The minute he dies, they scurry like rats because there’s no one else like him and the fault lines will open up as the battle for control and deniability shapes up.
