Pulled the papers outside
Many decisions surfaced
what could’ve gone different
Some words remained
Malformed across the margins
Her eyes scanned once
She stacked them near the window
And watched the wind

The reek of his past,
a bitter musk,
made him believe
he was unlovable.
She smelled the loneliness
he hid behind his wildness.
She doesn’t flinch.
He hung new stars
in the dark clouds of his doubt
he’d forgotten to look up at

We are oscillating between the in-betweens,
maybe, yes, and almost.
When we’re miles apart,
a tether made of unseen string
winds its way around my heart.
I don’t know where this path may lead
