Old lady, occasionally crotchety.
Any sort of bacterial action is going to produce heat, potentially a lot of heat.

One hell of an explosion.

I just thought it was just one of those weird guys you run into occasionally. But is ICE profiling people who might be buying food for people at risk?
January 27, 2026 at 10:43 PM
Holy shit! I was at the Aurora Village Costco earlier today, and had a weird thing happen, a guy walking past my car while I was loading it said, "All yours? Lotta food for an old lady." I generally don't respond to crap like that so I ignored him and he walked on eventually.
January 27, 2026 at 10:43 PM
What's his degree in?

Washington was the first state to do so by popular vote, and it has endured. But I'm not sure we would have gotten there so quickly without the example of those who went earlier and made it obvious that the sky wouldn't fall if we did.

In Seattle we figure we're off the list until the World Cup is over, but it's inevitable that they will come for us eventually.
January 27, 2026 at 3:08 AM
That's something those of us who don't live there could do while we wait for our turn in the ICE barrel.
January 26, 2026 at 7:40 PM
But can it tell the difference between am and pm?
January 26, 2026 at 6:15 PM
So why did he drive them out, while saying they had made the temple into a "den of robbers"? I'm not Christian (or Jewish) so I've got no dog in this hunt, but I don't think Christians are ever going to agree that Jesus was in the wrong here and stop using this story from the gospels.
January 21, 2026 at 1:41 PM
That story is about as foundational to Christianity as the whole "he is the Messiah" thing, and I can't see that ever going away.

Capturing the leader means I get most of their territory and can set up a vassal on what remains, right?

(guess the game)

We had an infected family cruising through over the holidays, thankfully it looks like they didn't infect anybody here in Washington state.

I wouldn't expect to find her popping up a lot on anything but my Following feed.
January 15, 2026 at 1:31 AM
Are you using the "Following" feed, or the "Discover" feed?
January 14, 2026 at 10:12 PM
Oof. I saw this play out with one of my kid's friends, although she was 6, not 8.

I wish they had a picture of the flood wall in this article, but I'm betting there are countless pictures out there to be had by googling "mt vernon flood wall".

This shows the difference between the experience in Mt. Vernon, and nearby Sumas, where people aren't saying "infrastructure" like it's a dirty word anymore.

Primarily because it isn't very tall, and isn't expected to contain every flood that could happen. It's basically a set of panels that go between sets of posts, then anchored to the ground. Like an upgraded sandbag wall. Very quick to deploy and then remove when the flood passes.
January 14, 2026 at 1:46 PM
We have had a lot of flooding here in Washington state recently. One bright spot has been the Mt. Vernon flood wall, which has now been through its second flood, preventing far more damage than it cost to build. It was ragged on as the usual "government waste" by the usual suspects when it was built

That's what they would do, knuckle under to the threat, and bellycrawl to kiss the ass of whoever makes the threat. They think that's what everybody would do.
January 14, 2026 at 12:26 AM
This is assuming they can get a grand jury to indict.

Food banks get a lot of stuff that is expired or nearly so dumped on them. Not so much of a problem for stuff that is non-perishable, but produce going bad, that's a problem.
January 12, 2026 at 7:43 PM
We have grocery co-ops. People can freely choose between the corporate, and the co-ops as they like. The corporates are still out there, so they must be doing something that the co-ops are not filling the need for.

I don't recall them being referred to as anything other than a "Bernoulli". In any event, the person who is trying to claim they weren't called floppies is wrong, and my usage goes back to punch tape and cards, as well as various types of magnetic tape.
