imo a steam machine (or gaming pc) is still a better purchase than consoles are. we are reaching a point where every new console is going to be less and less improved that the previous, and new games won't be made available for them.Modern gaming PC's don't really have that problem at all.

i pirate everything and I won't lie there is a fair amount of research, and time you have to put in to reach the levels of convenience of streaming.

can't expect someone who isn't already a linux nerd to bother with setting up a server and a NAS and getting everything configured.
