the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

A comic strip in four panels:

1. A bird's-eye view of a giant amphora the size of a building with closed eyes and a closed mouth engraved on it. Using scaffolding, a community of wizards climbed up and are throwing all their books into it, to fill its content.

2. A ground level view at the bottom of the giant amphora. This time, the wizards bring tree trunks, cut down nearby trees, and throw them into a large fire to boil the giant amphora.

Our animation crew, sound designers, music... everything. These folks make this silly little series what it is. It'd be nothing without them, and I pray that one day comes where we break through this wall and I can shower these folks with all the money in the world.

Making episodes of Monkey Wrench really is like putting my emotions and brain on a roller coaster full of blenders for 9 months, while giving birth. It looks very messy at first but right near the end it begins to coalesce into something real, tangible, something to be proud of.
