Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

I wish they’d stop resetting these after twenty something issues. Just give it #31 and keep counting

This was a pretty good start, super lush art with a story somewhere between World of Warcraft (the film) and Avatar. Comics are a necessary component to my sanity of late.

Being a sucker for any cover that’s wizard adjacent I played this and it’s glorious—like being in an episode of Afro Samurai or an old Shaw Brothers flick.

Didn’t think the Miller run could be topped, but this Zdarsky stuff is just as good so far.

October 8: apparently Conan #25 is a super-sized standalone issue where all the panels are oil paintings. Stoked.

Went through this phase when all I listened to was The Doors, so how’d I totally miss the ‘squirming like a toad’ thing? Caught it with the audiobook, that “Riders on the Storm” opening activating my brain, felt like I was sitting next to Jack Burton, only Jack had a bucket for a mouth. Was a riot.

I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

I remember them saying, of the MTV generation, that music videos would rot our brains, and I chuckle. ‘Bout 40 years off on that one.

8 days left to watch this extraordinary archival testimony from the likes of Quentin Bell, Duncan Grant, Leonard Woolf & Angelica Garnett. It really is a time capsule to another realm:
BBC Four - Omnibus, Virginia Woolf: A Night's Darkness, A Day's Sail
A celebration of the life and work of author Virginia Woolf.
