I'm still unemployed, and now every time I try to do something creative I feel like a husk. A loud, booming voice vibrates through my skull saying "THERE'S NO POINT" every time I try to think about a creative project. I know it's wrong, but I still can't get to a place where I can *do* anything.

Yeah it's illegal for sure to punish kids for not doing it. I never did the pledge for religious reasons, and there were a couple of times my parents had to get involved because some teachers had no idea.

So this is a roundabout way of saying that I am rereading Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wiswell less than two years after the first time I read it because it is really, really good. 👍 (2/2)

I was amused when I played one of the more recent ones that there was an option to swap the character model to the earlier styles.

I worked in a place with cubicles and they were fine. If there was a flaw it was the visual monotony, but that could have been solved by using different color walls or allowing personal decorations, rather than just removing the walls.

I'll agree it's bad for this to be "the only acceptable win condition" but I disagree that it's always bad for it to be considered a win condition.

Also, for a lot of these examples, whether I see words like "failed" thrown around depends a lot on *how* they ended, not just that they ended.

I might actually prefer when the hero and the rest of the party are idiots, because with this one my brain keeps going the way of "If you're friends and he wasn't even supposed to be that role why aren't you sitting down and talking strategy like adults? Why replace when you could just add?"

I think we can also lay a lot of blame on renaissance era art for that.

Because I am apparently a madman with too much time on my hands, I recently ranked 82 isekai series based on how much I want more seasons of the anime, and Ascendance of a Bookworm was one of only two that I put at SSS tier.

My surprise is more along the lines of: people talking about the third movie is how I found out there was ever a second movie.

I never read the original source material so I liked the movie up until like the last third of it where it was fairly obvious they were wantonly shoving subplots into the chipper.

Personally I'm in the "people actually go see those movies?" group, but I also would not be surprised at all if this turned out to be a symptom of how in-your-face-all-the-time companies like Disney have warped our sense of "cultural impact".

Also also, why would any of us want to live in a world that can't create "arrow to the knee" memes? 🙃

Tangentially related, I recently played through Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and I keep wanting to rave about the quality of the writing, but then I realize the stuff I want to talk about would be massive spoilers.
