ok i'm for real setting this down and doing something else now but i figured out a scale factor that would counteract this of between 101% and 106% but the config dialog won't let me set precisely enough to find it.

i really have no idea. i can't find anywhere that my scaling could possibly be set wrong, and if something's wrong with my monitor it's very hard to tell - squares are definitely square, so the only possibility would be that it's somehow accepting a higher resolution than it actually has, which...

binging "square" to bring up a square on my monitor to figure out if it's at the aspect ratio it thinks it is

i've got all my system settings done so that it's at 100% scale. the problem ceases to be visible if i increase to 200% scale, but then my computer is nigh unusable. very pretty tho!

now that i'm looking for it i'm noticing it everywhere. why is my computer zoomed in or whatever by a small amount??? all zoom is turned off everywhere

this results in these inconsistent pixel sizes and i would just say the heck with it but like. this is pixel art. it's supposed to have a very specific look and i'm trying to show it off.
