Some of the music colleges and uni's in the UK are fantastic, Brighton has WaterBear and BIMM and both are very good from what I know.

you can try to find a reusable dispo camera and a nice 200 or 400 ISO B&W film stock
either way, you being experienced will mean even a weaker camera is a useful tool in your hands
