If it's not "AI" or "making the windows explorer ten times slower" Microsoft is not interested in making it, apparently.

Oh yeah, I agree. The damage that big tech, "-bro" culture and grifters have done to ML/AI research is absolutely insane.

When the average, non "tech" person on here sees the words "AI", they immediately think of Grok or GPT, etc. That is why most people here in the comments are immediately jumping to conclusions over this job posting because they are completely unaware that "AI" doesn't always mean LLM or "slop".

Machine learning doesn’t always mean “AI”, first of all. In this case it’s referring to algorithms (like the Explore feed).

And what’s nice about feeds on Bluesky is that you can ALWAYS opt out.

The NAB wants it shutdown in the top 50 markets by 2028 and the rest of the US by 2030, which is way too fast for something that is not readily available to most consumers at this point.

The FCC needs to ban the use of DRM by broadcasters, they must require all new TVs to equip ATSC 3 tuners, and they must not use the NAB's fast-track plan to shutdown ATSC 1.
September 18, 2025 at 1:25 AM
The FCC must disallow DRM over ATSC3 and they must have a longer transition period than what the NAB wants. But at this point, it seems like lobbyists will get what they want as long as they "submit" to this administration and censor speech.

...because it's more convenient and it's less hardware to setup. Yes, yes, people MIGHT go out and buy new TVs, but there have hardly been any major TV technology innovations in the past 5 years to warrant an upgrade for most people.
September 18, 2025 at 1:11 AM
A rushed ATSC 3 transition means two things. One, people in low income areas and people with unreliable internet connections just lose access to broadcasts altogether. And people who have reliable connections will just go out and buy a subscription OTT service instead of buying an expensive tuner...

whereas today, 4K TVs have been sold for over a decade, affordable options have been around for 7 years. None of the affordable ones have ATSC tuners. People are not going to go out and buy a new TV just to get OTA broadcasts. Why? Because ALL of those TVs are internet connected anyway.
