Sometimes life's a bitch and you keep living :)
When people ask “Why do you watch sports?”, show them the hour of test cricket between England and India today. Utterly engrossing.

Also, I hope Siraj finally starts getting the appreciation he has long long deserved!

Lots of post about Anderson being forced to retire today. While I agree Anderson was a better bowler than those pacers who played today, his main issue was he just couldnt bowl the amount required for a frontline bowler in Tests. You cannot bowl only 10 overs a innings -- increases workload of rest.

I don't understand the glazing of Shoaib Bashir by the English media. This Indian side is not a great line up vs spin - in recent times they have been wrecked by spinner such as Santner, Hartley and Kuhnemann. Bashir was very very ineffective today.

Why was Sai Sudharshan sent in at 3? 3 is the hardest position to bat in tests. It is quite rare to send in a debutant there. Nair should have batted 3, 6 is a good position for a debutant batter.

The better choice would have been Jurel at 6 with Nair at 3.

As predicted, India's batting should do much better than in Australia without the two big millstones around their neck.

Sunil Gavaskar's spewed garbage on commentary seems to have convinced Pant to be quite subdued. Not sure I like this.

Wow Will Young not playing fro NZ. After the India series he had, I would have imagined Latham taking the gloves and Will Young in place of Blundell.

Great win at Perth. Another Aussie winning streak at a stadium up in the dust.

Khwaja bounced out. The next ball to Head keeping low. Love to see that on Day 4 of a Test.

As a KKR fan, I liked that they broke the bank on Venkatesh Iyer. A left handed Indian batter who can hit from the go, anchor when too many wickets fall and can take down elite leg spin.

First time I came across the word pulverized was while watching test cricket in Australia on TV. Because thats what Aussies did to visiting teams.

While I have been lucky to see India win test series in Aus, its so gratifying to see them pulverize Australia in their own backyard.

What a glorious day to wake up to. Australia in shambles at their much vaunted Perth!

As a fervent opposer of the Batriarchy, I love this.
Perth's transformation from batting paradise to snake pit.

Waking up to see Australia on 67/7. Jasprit Bumrah is the best cricketer in the world, currently.

What is the point of gloating about fifty thousand cameras when you cannot make them available to the third umpire when needed?

What is this desperate hurry to make decisions? Why not wait for five minutes until every bit of evidence is available?

Australia have put on a display of amazing pace bowling on a helpful deck here. Masterful.

That innings kind of sums of KL Rahul's cricket career in a way. Big early promise. Ability to bat in a manner that is rare. Yet, all of that up in a smoke due to something that he might not have complete control over.

That snicko decision overturning the call by the umpire was a bit sketchy. But eh, whatever, some go your way and some dont.

Look forward to see Jurel bat though. I am hyped.

Nathan Lyon comes to bowl his first balls this series. His stats at Perth is extremely good: 27 wickets across eight innings with a bowling average of 18 and a strike rate of 41.66.

Wow, that is quite a poor review. Missing on height, plus missing leg stump by quite a bit.

I guess its quite hard to gauge in real time on this bouncy a pitch. Cummins usually is quite prudent with reviews.

Somehow Pat Cummins has conceded more than half the runs so far.

Small sample size issues.

The last India test tour of Australia came at a rather dark time generally (middle of COVID pandemic) and in particular a dark time for me. I was right in the middle of my PhD, struggling with my mental health- an effect of being in complete isolation due to the lockdown and the general stresses..

At least Kohli was not nicked off driving a fifth stump ball this time :)

The extra bounce at Perth rears its head up again. 250 looks quite hard from here.
