The one thing keeping me from a full crash out this week is a fictional cicada. Lol. This overconfident periodical cicada nymph DIVA won a prize in the SunWriteFun contest!
Thank you judges! Never have I needed a boost more as I navigate my home renovation nightmares 💀

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

After an amazing summer, today officially marks the last day of my PBRS mentorship and the beginning of my #amquerying journey! I'm jumping right in and just posted my pitch to the #KidLitGN site! I'm so excited to say, starting tomorrow, I'm officially seeking representation! #kidlit #kidlitart #pb
LATE BIRD is sick of Early Bird getting all the worms--and all the glory. But don't worry, Late Bird has a plan. Forget the alarm clock, this calls for a catapult. Look out world, here comes Late Bird!

I spent the summer reporting this essay on why it seems harder than ever to sell a book right now—especially if it isn't a debut and comes with the dreaded "sales track." I'm grateful to the writers, agents, editors, publishers & experts who spoke to me for this piece: thewalrus.ca/the-publishi...

It’s so cute 💕 This is an enormous flex to have your work on a library card?!

In honor of Library Card Sign-Up Month, here's the card I designed for my local library! 🥰

Fellow #kidlit creators, make friends with your librarians! They are our partners and allies, our best resources, and our biggest hype people!

This was my prize in 2024 and when I tell you it was a game-changer!? I had never entered a KidLit contest before and @brennajeanneret.bsky.social, you were so insightful, encouraging, and helpful! 😭 I will remember that day forever! Ok! Enough with the sappy reply. Someone make a fart joke: quick!
