My Little Free Resource Library of Native Habitat & Food Forest, it's installed at the curb of my garden in SW Portland (SW 43rd X Vacuna). There's a sign with scannable resources, cuttings, quinces, a seed box. shujuwangartist.com/resource-lib... for what's currently available.

Emerald ash borer (EAB) — a small, metallic green beetle that kills ash trees — has been detected in multiple new sites in Oregon, including southeast Portland. Because of this, all of Multnomah County is now under quarantine. See comments for a list of what you can do. More: OregonEAB.com

A Townsend's chipmunk checking out the spillway of the rain garden. I think we have two chipmunks, one moved in July, not sure about the 2nd. We have ended our 35-year chipmunk drought.

The newly installed rain garden is operational! First set of plants in (great camas, dagger-leaf rush, streambank violets, western coltsfoot, blue-eyed grass). From peak to peak, it measures 15' long and 8' at its widest, with water coming from the roof measuring about 600 sqft.

If you don't have shade cloth handy, you can use a bedsheet. I have some floating row covers, so I've used that. I use binder clips to loosely secure them, just enough to keep the worst afternoon sun hitting the plants/fruit directly.

Heard about #seedsnail (invented by @faridasober?), although I think they're more like #seedjellyroll. Most use polypropylene sheets which break apart easily. I have an unused roll of landscape fabric (I know, but at least it's study & reusable). Behold, my seeded kale & arugula. #gardening
