Thrilled that our preprint on anole oocyte formation is now online @holyanole.bsky.social !
Such a great collaboration merging our expertise in anole reproductive tract morphology and early embryogenesis to understand how egg cells form!

Hi! We need lice for our diversity and adaptation project. Specifically, we need lice from zebras, camelids (camels, llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, guanacos) & aardvarks. If you or someone you know might have lice, I'm happy to discuss our inclusive collaboration plans!

We are interested in understanding what drives host-parasite relationships. We are using the Anoplura (sucking lice) parasite and mammalian host system to generate a comprehensive sucking louse phylog...

It's good to say this and reinforce that there is no link, but it's just as important to say this:

Even if there were a link between MMR and autism, YOU SHOULD STILL GET VACCINATED! I am autistic and my life is not worse than dying of measles!

New preprint from some of my postdoc work on lungs! Co-led with Kaleb Hill, we studied smooth muscle and epithelial development in lizard lungs. Stay tuned for more!

Injecting some joy in the skyline - today was my first day as an assistant professor! 😊

Hello world! Today’s officially the first day of the lab! It’s an empty space currently only filled with ideas (that I don’t have card access to yet 😂) but I’m excited for the science that will happen here! -JCG
Photo of Jaye Gardiner, a Black woman with long curly black hair, wearing dark green glasses and a coral colored sleeveless top, holding an iPad with the words “Jaye’s 1st day” written largely. Underneath it’s written “as an assistant professor 9/2/2025” although that doesn’t come out as clear in the photo.

I brought my six year old son to a talk that I gave today.

I think he got a lot out of it!
A room full of people sitting and looking up at a screen. In the front row is a young boy, laying down on his back across several chairs, and with his head hanging off the last chair where the aisle is. He is clearly not paying any attention to anything happening in the room and looks very bored.

Okay I know you all are watching some sort of train crash, BUT

our 4-yo just marched into the room and said
“You know what? I LOVE BOOKS.
I love books more than probably anyone.”

Putting out the #zebrafish batsignal (or I guess fish signal). Does anyone in the US have ccdc40 mutant embryos they would be willing to send me? Also potentially interested in mutants in other motile cilia genes.

Controversial post. I want #HHS to stop shaming autism. You are not broken. People with autism do have jobs, make friends, and have fulfilling lives. Stop making parents think they have failed when their children have autism. Stop making autistic people feel subhuman.
