I had two dogs when I read this book. A week after finishing I lost my dog Rupert. I’d known while reading that he was fading, and Emily’s grappling with her aging hell-hound put words to my feelings. No finite span of years with a dog you love will ever be enough.

Two books that meant a lot on a personal level. The paladin knitting socks happened at the point my knitting turned a corner (quite literally: I finally turned the heel). And secondly, if you are the guardian of an elderly four legged creature, Emily Wildes final offering will make your cry.

The Siege of Burning Grass - Premee Mohamed.

The Tainted Cup - Robert Jackson Bennett.

These are the ones I’ve excitedly talked about to people and said “you should read this”.

In my head these are my “World Con socks”. So with that in mind, these are the books I’ve enjoyed most over the period I’ve been knitting (in reading order):

Voyage of the Damned - Francis White.

Buried Deep and Other Stories - Naomi Novik. (And then I re-read the entire Scholomance trilogy)
