Things are good but hectic! James and I just moved into our new house and I'm trying to get my book manuscript in by the end of the month. Yes absolutely let's get coffee when you're next in Cardiff!

I didn't! I've changed institutions since the conference so maybe she contacted my old email. How is she doing?

Announcing New Welsh Voices in English Literature - a new research series at Swansea!

I wanted to devote some of my @leverhulme.ac.uk trust fellowship to promoting work by other ECRs in Wales.

I'm really looking forward to these two talks this semester, with Bridget Bartlett and Beth Pyner.

Leo (Bloom) firmly agrees with you!

Leo is judging me for watching the athletics rather than finishing my book...

Will BAAS 2025 be your first academic conference? Or are you yet to choose a conference & unsure where to start?

Don't worry - our How To series has you covered! In this episode, Siân Round sits down with Chelsea McNutt (Cornell University) to unpack how to prepare for conferences.

As consolation that the weather in Virginia is somehow worse than in Cardiff, my article on Lillian Smith has been published open access in JAS: doi.org/10.1017/S002....

This essay is a labour of love spanning all the way back to my master's research (and a preview of the final chapter of my book)

First day in sunny Charlottesville as the Lillian Gary Taylor Fellow in American Literature at UVA working on the Anne Spencer papers!

I'll be here for two weeks and then off to Chapel Hill. Recommendations very welcome!

I had a great chat with Tom about writing your first journal article - well worth a watch for PGRs and ECRs looking to make their first step in the world of academic publishing!
