According to records the windy weather in Shetland since Wednesday was mostly near gale force 7, only occasionally reaching gale force 8. This was enough for NorthLink to cancel its sailings for three nights while, over that period, flights at Sumburgh airport continued and nearly all were on time.

Maritime and Coastguard Agency has said that from Monday the responsibility for the delivery for maritime safety information for the Pentland Firth will come from the maritime rescue coordination centre in Shetland.

As was suggested on SIBC, it has been confirmed that 333 metre very large crude carrier Bella-1, renamed Marinera, under UScommand and currently bunkering and taking on stores off Burghhead, is to be taken to the United States, probably off Galveson to join other seized VLCC and Afromax tankers.

There have been responses to the announcement by the Shetland Recreational Trust on the planned closure of the Scalloway swimming pool and the moving, from the beginning of April, of the services to other sites, including the Clickimin Centre pool.
