For a guy who seems to get Oscar nominations every time he opens a script, it’s so strange that his best performances weren’t even nominated. “Courage Under Fire” comes to mind. The image of this regal figure slowly crumbling from the inside still haunts me.

Exactly this. The scenes were good but the movie was perfectly paced. There’s no way an action movie of its scope today would have been kept to under 2 hours like that one was.

It’s a weird case. He has a big role as a secondary antagonist. But he’s uncredited AND heavily disguised; his very presence was considered a spoiler; some didn’t know it was him until the credits. I think the surprise element & his A-list status outweigh the screentime factor, so I’m Team Cameo. 🤔

As someone who lives w/2 excitable dogs, I so agree. TV/ movies should agree on a common sound effect for doorbells that sounds nothing like real doorbells. It’s like that 555 phone number they use: we all know it’s fake, but we collectively decided the greater good was more important than realism.
