Okay, but in a free society it should be perfectly acceptable to be critical of religious beliefs and religious doctrine. They are just ideas.

Of course all people should be protected from discrimination. And all philosophies and ideas should be open to challenge etc. Being a Jew is an ethnic identity, not a religious one.

No. Because being a Jew is not a religious identity. Not all Jews are adherents of Judaism. There are a large number of atheistic Jews. It doesn’t make them any less Jewish. How many atheistic Muslims can you name?

Not saying they are not allowed opinions. Of course they are. But the nature of social media means their *published* opinions are immediately subject to mass scrutiny. And as in this case, crassly expressed views lead to a swift backlash and an inevitable climb down.
