Breton is a provocateur rather than a diplomat and was as a Commissioner. On regulation, it is true the EU has to stand firm against threats. But they aren't new. And whatever they say, nobody thinks the existing US-EU deal is anything but a holding position. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

We deeply regret the US tariffs imposed on Europe.

The 1 April EU countermeasure are the easy ones, legally and politically speaking, given they were automatically going to come back into force anyway following time-limited suspension.
